Lettuce ‘Really Red Deer Tongue’ Looseleaf

Description

From Wild Garden Seed: “If the traditional ‘Red Deer Tongue’ leaves you wanting more red, try this first release in a series that combines the heirloom ‘Green Deer Tongue’ with our ‘Hyper Red Rumple Waved’. Leaves are long, pointed, and dark red all over, with a contrasting white midrib. Hard to classify by type. Begins as a unique dark red cutting type, then makes a butter-cos heart. Probably best as a spring lettuce. New reselection for better uniformity.”

Care: Plant 12-16″ apart in rows 16-18″ apart in a mostly sunny area.

Fall Harvest variety

Late-season vegetables adapted to tolerate both the heat of late summer and the cool nights of fall. Harvest in late summer or fall. See our Fall & Winter Vegetable Guide for specific planting/harvest times & freeze-out temperatures.
