Piracicaba is a type of mini broccoli bred in the Brazilian city of the same name. Sidekick is Johnny’s Seed’s selected strain of Piracicaba. Selected for an upright plant with uniform, dark green heads and strong side-shoot production, Sidekick produces large quantities of sweet and tender florets on very large, high-yielding plants. If harvested regularly, Sidekick will produce abundant side shoots for at least a month. Selected by the late Dr. John Navazio at Johnny’s. 41 days. Photo and text courtesy of Johnny’s Seeds.
Care: Plant 20-30″ apart in rows 24-36″ apart in full sun, cool moist soil.
