Tomato ‘Astiana’ Grafted Mighty ‘Mato

Description

Grafting is a traditional technique that dramatically improves vigor and yield. Read more on our grafting page.

Indeterminate. Astiana tomatoes were brought back from Italy by Ayers Creek Farm near Gaston, Oregon and selected for improvement for over a decade.

Large, meaty, beautifully colored and shaped tomatoes with deep and rich flavor. Slightly juicier than a San Marzano or Roma, and good as a slicer; but a really, really great sauce tomato. Mostly less lobed and easier to peel than Costoluto varieties and much bigger than most Romas, or even San Marzano Gigante or Amish Paste. Few seeds.
Care: Plant 24-36″ apart in rows 3-4′ apart in full sun. Plants grow 4-6′ tall; provide a cage or trellis.
