Tomato ‘Rosella Purple’ Super Dwarfs

Description

Produces medium to large (6–12 oz.), deep purple-pink fruit on productive sturdy plants. Flavor rivals Cherokee Purple, but on a dwarf 3–4′ tall plant! Flavor is full, intense, balanced and delicious. Indeterminate, 58 days.

Super Dwarfs: A collection of sturdy dwarf tomatoes that combines the best characteristics of the determinate and indeterminate plant habit. Conceived in 2005, the Dwarf Tomato Project is a unique, worldwide, collaborative, all-volunteer tomato breeding project. Currently, 67 new varieties have been released. These varieties are perfect for those who choose or require container gardening, providing an array of colors, sizes and flavors that were previously limited to strictly indeterminate heirloom types. None of the people involved with the project receive any payment for the development of these new varieties – it’s simply the fulfillment of a passion to create what will hopefully end up being classified as heirloom tomatoes many years from now – a donation to the gene pool and to space-challenged gardeners the world over.

The plants remain small but continue to fruit.
– Plants average about 30–36″ in mature height.
– Tomatoes vary in size and shape, including fruits over 1 pound.
– Broad range of flavors—sweet, tangy, fruity and even a hint of saltiness—something to please everyone!
– Easy to grow in pots, on balconies, or wherever space is limited.
