Plants form ornamental rosettes of maroon-veined green leaves. The young leaves have a sharp, tangy flavor similar to spinach or chard and can be added to salads. 30-40 days from transplant.
Care: Plant 8″ apart in rows 12-18″ apart in sun or light shade. If plants bolt, cut back and wait for regrowth in fall.
Cold-tolerant plants that stand in the field for harvest as needed in late fall and early winter. May overwinter in mild seasons, or die back and sprout from the root in spring for an extra-early crop.
