Penstemon digitalis ‘Onyx and Pearls’ (beardtongue)

Description

Tall, upright variety gives height to any garden, with creamy-white flowers that contrast beautifully against striking purple foliage. Stays strictly upright all season long. Beautiful flowers are exceptionally long blooming and irresistible to hummingbirds. Pinching back taller varieties when about 12″ tall will produce more compact plants. Can be divided every 3-4 years in spring by digging mature rhizomes and replanting. Will self sow. Foliage can be trimmed after blooming to freshen. Clean up in fall or spring. May benefit from loose winter mulch in colder zones. Medium watering needs. Part shade to full sun. Grows to 42 inches. Photo courtesy of Ball Seed.
