Lavatera ‘Burgundy Wine’

Description

Burgundy Wine makes a useful shrub for the back of sunny borders. The upright stems are covered in felted, grey-green foliage that remains semi-evergreen. From early summer the deep pink flowers are produced in upright spikes that are reminiscent of Hollyhocks. This hard working Tree Mallow continues to bloom throughout the summer and often into autumn, attracting pollinating insects to its nectar rich flowers. Height and spread is 78″. An excellent choice for attracting butterflies into your garden, this Lavatera is the host plant for the common checkered skipper known as Pyrgus communis, part of the larger Skippers Hesperiidae family.
