Currant ‘Red Lake’ (Ribes rubrum)

Description

Currants are rich in antioxidants and have a much higher Vitamin C content than oranges. Red Lake produces a profusion of long drooping clusters of medium-large bright red and juicy currants that ripen in mid-summer on vigorous, upright shrubs with attractive, medium green, lobed foliage which is aromatic when crushed. Good for fresh eating or for making jam. Grows 3 – 5 feet tall. Prefers moist soil. Sun to light shade. Hardy to Zone 7.
