Why choose native plants? Pacific Northwest native plants know how to live here and how to thrive here. They often need much less water and less fertilizer. They spread slowly and are not invasive. They support a wide diversity of wildlife. And best of all, they look great!
This adaptable, deer-resistant sedge provides a wonderful alternative to many ornamental grasses. Its triangular culms and grass-like leaves form attractive tufts which remain green throughout the year. An inhabitant of wetlands, riparian areas and wet meadows, this sedge does very well in water or rain gardens or around ponds and streams where its dense rhizomes provide excellent erosion control and bank stabilization. It prefers full to partial sun and is fast-growing. Grows 1-4′ high, 1-3′ wide. Photo courtesy of SevenOaks Nursery.
