Basil ‘Genovese Compact’ (Ocimum basilicum)

Description

Grows 16-18”. Large, medium dark green leaves on compact plant perfect for containers. Sweeter taste is less like anise. Good for muddling, garnish, infusions; pairs with citrus, tomato or melon in a tequila drink. Slow bolting for longer harvests. 75 days from transplant.

Old Tom Gin Garden:

With its blend of juniper, coriander, orange peel and other spices, gin is the ultimate botanical spirit. Gin’s floral, citrus and spice notes compliment almost everything that grows in the garden.

Try a cucumber-infused gin and tonic, a basil martini, an elderflower liqueur, or a thyme-infused blend of sweetness and spice.

Herbarium: Muddle 1.5 ounces gin, 5 ounces St Germain, cucumber, basil, and juice of 1/4 lemon. Shake over ice, strain into glass over ice, top with club soda.
