Radicchio ‘Yellowstone’

Description

From Uprising Seeds: Yellowstone is a relatively recent development, selected from a sport of the more common red Verona type. We love the Verona types for their tight heads, durability in the field, convenient size, and versatility in the kitchen. Yellowstone grows similarly to a mid to late red Verona in the fields with the outer leaves peeling back to reveal a stunning and unusual soft golden head with bright white central veining. Like most blanched-yellow radicchio types, leaves are less bitter than their red counterparts making them especially suited to raw salad preparations. Leaves, when separated from the head, show beguiling swirls and ripples to the leaves and veining that are visually stunning and great for greedily hording dressing. 100-110 days. Care: Plant 10-12″ apart in rows 12-18″ apart in full sun.

Fall Harvest variety

Late-season vegetables adapted to tolerate both the heat of late summer and the cool nights of fall. Harvest in late summer or fall. See our Fall & Winter Vegetable Guide for specific planting/harvest times & freeze-out temperatures.
