Amelanchier x grandiflora ‘Princess Diana’ Serviceberry

Description

Abundant white flowers in spring followed by bluish-purple fruit in June. Leaves turn a brilliant red-orange in the fall. Will tolerate full sun but prefers part to light shade. This is a small, deciduous, usually multi-trunked understory tree or tall shrub which typically matures to 15-20′ tall with a 12-15′ spread. Attractive understory tree/shrub for lawns, shrub borders, woodland margins or native plant areas. Shrub forms can be grown as tall informal hedges or screens. Good plant for bird gardens. Attracts butterflies and is moderately drought tolerant. Likes average-to-moist, well drained soil. Hardy to Zone 4. Photo from Oakland Nurseries.
