Compact little “Lollo-type” leaf lettuce. The leaves are very dark purple, small and round with the characteristic hyper-crisped frilly margins of the finest Lollo lettuces, but Lollo di Vino seems impervious to downy mildew. 125 years ago, these supercurled types were referred to in Europe as “California curled lettuce.” Photo courtesy of Wild Garden Seed.
Care: Plant 12-16″ apart in rows 16-18″ apart in a mostly sunny area. Pick within 2-3 weeks of maturity for best flavor.
