Leek ‘Sweet Garleek’

Description

This new-to-the-world allium marries the sweetness of leeks with the mellow, savory notes of garlic. Use the whole thing—tops and all—sautéed, grilled or simply raw. Sweet Garleek grows from spring to fall and is best harvested at ½-inch diameter to maximize its tenderness and natural garlicky flavor. 95-110 days to maturity from sowing. Full sun, moist soil. Text and photo courtesy of Row 7.

Care: In late spring, space pencil-thick transplants 6″ apart in rows 24″ apart.

Fall Harvest variety

Late-season vegetables adapted to tolerate both the heat of late summer and the cool nights of fall. Harvest in late summer or fall. See our Fall & Winter Vegetable Guide for specific planting/harvest times & freeze-out temperatures.
