Huge, easy-to-peel white cloves with a faint tinge of reddish purple, like Mt Hood viewed at sunset on a cloudy day. Mellow, “true garlic” flavor. Hardneck varieties are identifiable by a stiff, woody stem running through the center of the bulb. Each bulb is tightly wrapped in layers of porcelain white, thin, papery skin. Bulbs store well and hold their flavor.
Care: Plant 6-8″ apart, 1-2″ deep. Harvest when all but 3-4 leaves turn dry and brown (usually July). Hang to dry in cool, shady, ventilated area for 2 weeks, then store in a cool dark location.
