Sometimes called Japanese parsley, this wonderful herb is more subtle than the parsley we’re used to here at home. It’s sweeter, with more of a cilantro vibe happening, but not too sweet; it’s actually more reminiscent of shiso (perilla), the garnish most commonly used with sushi platters in Japan. Mitsuba prefers moist, shady conditions. A wonderful addition to any recipe calling for cilantro, or parsley, or celery leaf; it’s the best of all three!
