A striking, dense, evergreen shrub growing to around 4 feet tall with glossy, narrow, deep purple-red rounded foliage, which transforms as the temperatures cool, deepening into rich velvety purple and burgundy tones. This plant looks lovely when offset against silver, golden or lime colored foliage. Plant in moist, well drained acid or neutral soil in a sheltered sunny position. Has an upright, compact growth habit. An ideal container plant for the terrace, balcony and patio that likes to be protected from frost in winter. Regular watering during dry spells and occasional trimming to maintain its shape are all that is needed to keep this stunning plant looking its best.
