Mint ‘Orange Bergamot’ (Mentha x piperita citrata syn. ‘Orange’)

Description

Coppery tinted foliage makes this mint a great landscape plant. Strong citrus-mint scent and flavor. Try in hanging baskets. Also wonderful in tea. Perennial.

Mixologists’ Simple Syrups:

To make a simple syrup, heat equal parts sugar and water until the sugar melts. Allow to cool, then steep mint in the mixture for 30-60 minutes. Strain and store in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 weeks.

Herbal Liqueur: Combine fresh herbs in jar with vodka for 1-4 days. Strain and add spices and dried citrus peel; soak for 2-3 weeks, tasting regularly. Strain, add simple syrup to taste; refrigerate for one week before using.
