Grape ‘Delicious’ Vitus rotundifolia

Description

The ‘Delicious’ muscadine grape cultivar was breed by Dr. Dennis J. Gray at the University of Florida. Self-fertile, ‘Delicious’ ripens early, produces high yields, large black berries, and is disease-resistant. The remarkable fruit ripens 2-3 weeks earlier than most muscadines. The berries have a dry stem scar and harvest readily. The grape is best noted for its delicious taste and texture with an edible skin. The exceptional taste was noted by all the visitors at the trial vineyard who sampled the fruit, which is how it got the name ‘Delicious.’ They should be spaced 12 to 20 feet between vines and 10 to 16 feet between rows. Full sun to partial shade. Hardy to Zones 7-9. Photo courtesy of AgriStarts.
