Echinacea SunSeekers® Pumpkin Pie Coneflower is a free-flowering, long-blooming, showy perennial that blooms early summer to early fall. The large, semidouble flowers have pumpkin orange petals with lime green centers. Borne on short, stocky stems, the flowers are held upright, making excellent cut flowers. In the garden, the long-lasting, nectar-rich flowers sustain butterflies and bees; and the dried end-of-season seed heads are a food source for songbirds and add garden interest as well, especially when dusted in freshly fallen snow. Grows best in sunny locations with average to fertile, well-draining soil. It tolerates poor soils, but good drainage is essential. The plant is deer resistant and drought tolerant once established. Deadheading is not required but will promote even more blooms. Photo courtesy of Rush Creek Growers, via Innoflora.
