Long, deep purple ears of corn for cornmeal. Beautiful, nearly black corn flour. Like bittersweet chocolate, a bit of sweetener brings out the flavor. Isolate from sweet corn varieties as this one will affect their flavor. Selected by Ayers Creek Farm in Oregon. OP. Photos courtesy of Anthony Boutard.
Care: Plant 4-6″ apart in rows 24″ apart in full sun and rich fertile soil. Corn is wind-pollinated and individual varieties should be planted in blocks of at least 4′ by 4′ for best ear formation.
