Ceanothus ‘Tuxedo’ (Ceanothus hybrid)

Description

This wild lilac sports excellent cold hardiness, prolific flowers, and glossy handsome evergreen foliage year round. A strong growing shrub that can literally explode in growth in rich soil. Performs best in average, un-amended soil in full sun with regular summer water for the first season to establish and then none in subsequent years. Evergreen leaves are glossy chocolate brown, purple and green, very nice. Lilac purple flowers in mid summer. Grows a bit slower than other ceanothus, 6′ x 4′.  Sun-part shade. Zone 6a.
