Bean ‘Beefy Resilient Grex’

Description

A variety from breeder Carol Deppe, a grex is a population intentionally left mixed after a genetic cross to enhance its resilience and adaptability to environmental variations and stresses in growing conditions (soil, weather, disease and pest resistance.) According to Carol who bred it, “it is the most intensely beefy flavored bean I have ever eaten. Has become my main eating bean. Also the most productive dry bean I have ever grown by a factor of 2X or more.” These extremely productive bush plants benefit from something for their short runners to twine about. Pods varying in physical traits mature over a multi-week period to yield a harvest of small, meaty, thin-skinned beans in a satisfying array of earthtone shades. Soak for 24 hours before cooking. Fall Harvest variety

Late-season vegetables adapted to tolerate both the heat of late summer and the cool nights of fall. Harvest in late summer or fall. See our Fall & Winter Vegetable Guide for specific planting/harvest times & freeze-out temperatures.
