The Village Green Resort was built in 1959, just two years after Interstate 5 connected Cottage Grove to other cities up and down the west coast. Capitalizing on the novelty of a super-highway, The Village Green was perfectly positioned to draw in weary travelers driving from Portland to San Francisco. However, it was much more than just a place to rest one’s head; The Village Green Resort was a destination! Graced with 14 acres of beautiful gardens, a pool and an in-house restaurant, the resort also boasted tennis courts and a nine hole golf course. It even had a bowling alley! So popular was The Village Green, it attracted an avid bowler named Richard Nixon; after his stay, a large photo of him – bowling, of course – was placed in the ‘Presidential Suite.’ Generations of families and vacationers kept The Village Green going well into the 21st century (it was purchased by Moonstone Properties in the early 2000s and given a complete makeover), but this iconic property has finally closed its doors for good. We were lucky enough to obtain these unique Hellebore hybrids, in both single and double varieties, and are excited to offer them to you!
