Train the long canes up an obelisk or wigwam or against a wall or trellis. <em>Tulameen<\/em> bears high yields of large fruit with a good, sweet flavor in midsummer. From just a few plants you\u2019ll be able to harvest bowlfuls of fruit. Raspberries are biennials that perform best in full sun with plenty of water and a good fertilizing when blooms begin. They are generally thorny, although some cultivars are thornless. A slow warming spring, such as in the Pacific Northwest, is required for optimal flower and fruit production. Hardy canes do not require staking. Birds also love the fruit, so you may have to share the harvest. Fruit is produced on one year old wood.
