Asclepias are excellent nectar sources and are food for the larval stages of Monarch and Queen butterflies.\u00a0Monarchs use a nectar source\u00a0<strong><em>and<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0host plant. Unlike\u00a0<em>A. syriaca, speciosa\u00a0<\/em>does not form large clones.\u00a0Several erect umbels with\u00a0multiple flowers are presented at the top of the stems.
