Rhus aromatica ‘Lacette™’ fragrant sumac

Description

Lacette™ Fragrant Sumac was selected for its dense, mounded habit and refined textured foliage. This shrub lends an air of sophistication to sites where few other plants will grow. Thrives in tough sites and is well suited for embankments and both formal and informal landscapes. With a high value to wildlife, this shrub is an excellent component to bird and butterfly gardens. The aromatic leaves are glossy green during summer, turning brilliant shades of red in fall. When crushed, the leaves have a fresh fragrance that also deters deer, rabbit, and other animal browsing. While the leaves may resemble that of poison ivy, Lacette™ is entirely non-toxic. It’s a great choice where low maintenance, durability, and ornamental value are desired! Grows to 4.5 feet with a 6-7 foot spread and likes full sun. Photos courtesy of Johnson’s Nursery.
