Penstemon barbatus ‘Elfin Pink’ (beardtongue)

Description

A profusion of pale pink tubular bells on wiry stems. Beautiful flowers are exceptionally long blooming and irresistible to hummingbirds. Medium watering needs. Heat tolerant. Sun. Pinching back taller varieties when about 12″ tall will produce more compact plants. Can be divided every 3-4 years in spring by digging mature rhizomes and replanting. Will self sow. Foliage can be trimmed after blooming to freshen. Clean up in fall or spring. May benefit from loose winter mulch in colder zones. Photo courtesy of Ball Seed.
