The oldest named sweet pea cultivar in existence, dating back at least to 1731 in England, has outstanding bicolored blooms in deep rose-red and pink-tinged white. Still a favorite, ‘Painted Lady’ produces a profusion of strongly scented flowers, 1-2 per stem, over a long bloom season. Grows 5-6 feet tall.
