Another beautiful Turban garlic with a rich garlicky flavor and a robust pungency you notice immediately upon biting into it – instant fiery hotness that builds to a crescendo in about 40 seconds, levels out, and slowly dissipates leaving you warm and breathless. These bulbs impress with their flattened shape and striking purple blotching. Turbans are among the very earliest harvesting garlics and store until mid-November or longer and need to be planted early in the fall.
Care: Plant 6-8″ apart, 1-2″ deep. Harvest when all but 3-4 leaves turn dry and brown (usually July). Hang to dry in cool, shady, ventilated area for 2 weeks, then store in a cool dark location.
