Cucumis sacleuxii

Description

A wild vining cucumber from eastern tropical Africa that produces 3-4″ elongated, non-edible fruits striped in dark and light green, like mini watermelons with tiny spines. An unusual ornamental and fun for craft projects.
Care: Space 2-3′ apart in all directions. Cucumbers need heat and well-drained soil: plant in full sun in raised beds or hills. Vining plants can be allowed to sprawl or grown on a trellis.
